Alcohol-free Happy Hour in Sydney

Whether your new years resolution is to drink less in 2020, you’re pregnant or you are looking after your health, you may dread when you’re invited out for some drinks with friends. But it doesn’t have to be like that, more and more Sydney restaurants are adding alcohol-free beverages to their menus and happy hours. We’ve complied a list below, so you can suggest them next time you’re invited out for drinks. (Did you know: According to Australian Bureau of Statistics, in 2018 alcohol consumption in Australia dropped to a 50 year low?)

1. PS40

PS40 cocktail bar is definitely one place to add to your alcohol-free night out. Instead of making your normal cocktails and removing the alcohol, PS40 look at it from a different angle. They focus on having the fresh, key ingredients to make up for the lack of alcohol and the flavour it adds to drinks. This is done through layer building of ingredients!

Where can you find them? Shop 2, 40 King St, Sydney
When are they open? Mon-Sat 4pm-12am

2. Bodhi

Now this place specialises in vegan tapas and mocktails. Some of Bodhi’s most popular alcohol-free beverages include the California Dreaming, which has lemon, vegan egg white and soda. And also the Riders in the Storm, made from apple juice, lime, passion fruit, mint, sugar and soda! Oh and the food menu here is amazing as well, even for your meat eating friends (they won’t be able to tell!)

Where can you find them? 2-4 College Street, Sydney
When are they open? Mon-Sun 11am-3pm and 5pm-10pm

3. Quays

Talking about equality – Quays have 10 cocktails and 10 alcohol-free mocktails on their menu. One mocktail they caught my eye is the Gin Martini, it has Seedlip garden, tonic and elderflower reduction and apple slices! Yum! So, if you want a place where you have the same amount of options as your alcoholic friends, this is the place.

Where can you find them? Upper Overseas Passenger Terminal, The Rocks
When are they open? Fri-Sun 12pm-1:30 and 6pm-9:30pm or Mon- Thurs 6pm-9:30pm

4. Alex & Co

Nestled in Parramatta, Alex & Co is a hot spot for drinks and food. Although they don’t have a huge alcohol-free range. They do have 4 decent options to pick from, one even making us laugh, the “I am Driving” Mocktail! It includes pineapple & raspberry with citrus, mints, cranberry and fizz.

Where can you find them? Shop 2/4/330 Church St, Parramatta
When are they open? 11:30am-12am

5. Black Bar

If you were looking for something high-class Black Bar has you covered. If you love your sour drinks the Pink Grapefruit is the one for you. It contains juice with elderflower, lemon and lime juice and bitters – sounds good right? And they will have your alcoholic friends cover too with interesting Liquid nitrogen cocktails.

Where can you find them? The Star, Level G/80 Pyrmont St, Pyrmont
When are they open? Mon-Sun 12pm-3pm and 5:30pm-10pm

Enjoy your alcohol-free night out in Sydney!
