Five Guys USA is coming to Penrith

American fast food giant Five Guys is coming to Australia and they have picked their first location in Sydney.

For those that love American fast food, this is the news you have been waiting for. Five Guys is coming to Australia for the first time and opening their first store in Penrith NSW. There doesn’t seem to be an official date yet when they will open but it does say they will open mid-2021 which could be any day now! We are so excited.

Update: They will be opening 20 September 2021!

For those that have never heard of Five Guys, they have been around since 1986 and started as a small family business. They have had huge success since and have opened over 1,500 locations around the world. They are well known for their burgers, hotdogs, fries and milkshakes and they claim to not own any freezers… which we assume means everything is made fresh.

You will be able to find the new Five Guys once it opens in Penrith NSW in the Penrith Panthers Precinct (which also already includes Krispy Kreme – what a combo!) and next door to McDonalds and KFC.

We had a look into their American reviews and people seem to love that their menu is customisable on how you like your food and you can get unlimited add-ons (hopefully this continues in their Australian store).

What will be on the menu?

Five Guys have not yet released what will be on their Australian menu, but if their American one is anything to go off, here are some of the burgers we can expect:

  • Hamburger
  • Cheeseburger
  • Bacon Burger
  • Bacon Cheeseburger
  • Little Hamburger
  • Little Cheeseburger
  • Little Bacon Burger
  • Little Bacon Cheeseburger

Then it seems you can add whatever you want to your burger including simple things like lettuce and tomato or all the way up to peppers and grilled mushrooms.

We are really looking forward to visiting once they open! Let us know if you have tried Five Guys before in another country?

Solo dining in Sydney? Here is where to go!

Are you a Sydney-sider wanting to eat out but you’re all alone? Or are you on the trip to Sydney by yourself and want to eat out? Well, not to fear, there are plenty of places to eat without feeling awkward that you are alone. You want to avoid quiet places or places like yum cha where it is probably best to have a companion. Or buffets, because who is going to mind the table haha? So, here is our list of where we would eat if we were solo dining in Sydney.

1. Sushi Rio

We personally can’t think of a better option than a sushi train. There are no tables and everyone is sitting along a bench facing the train, nothing awkward about that right? You can casually pick the options you want off the sushi train without anyone noticing you are all alone. Sushi Rio would be our pick if you are in the Sydney CBD. They have a lot of options and it is super fresh!

Where can you find them: Shop 7/339A Sussex St, Sydney (you can also find them in Westfield Sydney and Bondi)
When are they open: Mon-Sun 12pm-10pm but open till 11pm on Fri-Sat

2. Jimmy’s Recipe

Next on our list of options for solo dining in Sydney is Jimmy’s Recipe. During the week at lunch time this place is super busy. You order at the counter and your food is generally ready within the minute, so there is no awkward waiting around. Then you are off to find a table, it is so busy and fast paced in there, that no one will notice you are alone. Plus there are usually quite a few solo diners on their lunch break from work. We always get the Laksa from here, it’s the best!

Where can you find them: Ground Floor/500 George St, Sydney
When are they open: Sat-Sun 11am-3pm Mon-Tues 10am-6pm Wed 10am-7pm Thurs 10am-9pm and Fri 10am-8pm

3. Mister Gee Burger Truck

Last but not least, for our solo dining options in Sydney we had to add a burger truck. There is nothing awkward about ordering from these and taking a seat in a park and enjoying your meal. We picked Mister Gee Burger Truck and their burgers never disappointed. Oh and the loaded fries are amazing too! The good thing about food trucks in general is that they move around so you are bound to find one near you.

Where can you find them: Check their Instagram, they move around to different locations (this week they are at 16 George St, North Strathfield)
When are they open: Depends on where they are

The best of Sydney food trucks and where to find them

Where do I start! I love food trucks, I find they offer unique food options in convenient locations. Many of them move around so you just need to wait until they come to your area to give them a try! We’ve tested many of them out as food bloggers and we’ve made a list of our favourite Sydney food trucks below.

1.Duo Duo Icecream Food Truck

Lets start with dessert – Duo Duo icecream is to die for! It’s basically deep fried icecream on steroids with unique flavours and delicious toppings. We can’t stop going back for more. We find they are usually in Dulwich Hill, Strathfield, Burwood or Blacktown. They always post on their instagram where you can find them!

2.Bianco Group Food Truck

I’m always craving a good pasta, so of course we are going to try Bianco Group’s food truck. We found these guys at the Sydney Royal Easter Show! We tried the Gnocchi and Spaghetti Carbonara and topped them with a heap of parmesan. They only seem to do the food truck at the easter show but they have a restaurant in Brighton-Le-Sands.

3.Greek Street Food Truck

Other than Italian pasta, our other weak spot in greek food… especially feta. Our next top food truck pick is the Greek Street food truck and their Greek feta fries. You can’t go back to normal fries after you have tried these haha! They seem to move around to major events like the Sydney Royal Easter Show, Splendor in the Grass and more!

4.Happy Ending Burger Food Truck

These guys are rare to find as a food truck, other than their burger shop they turned up to the Sydney Burger Expo this year. To us, they were the best burgers at the expo. Only downside is you may only find them as a food truck once a year.

5.Pimp My Chimney Food Truck

We started on a high of dessert so lets finish on a high of dessert. Pimp My Chimney are basically a hot doughnut cone filled with soft serve! The good thing about these guys is that they are always popping in and out of suburbs all over Sydney. You are bound to run into them eventually!

We hope our list of our favourite Sydney food trucks has helped you pick one to eat at this weekend!
